Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting, and skin care.
- Aid with mobility needs such as repositioning, transfers, and walking assistance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the patient.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks related to patient care.
- Follow individualized care plans and maintain accurate records of care provided.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
- Respect the privacy, dignity, and cultural beliefs of patients and their families.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team, including nurses, social workers, and chaplains, to ensure holistic care.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification (varies by state).
- Experience: Previous experience in hospice, home health, or elder care preferred.
- Skills: Compassionate, patient, and emotionally resilient; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; physical stamina to assist with patient mobility and care; basic knowledge of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care.
