Certified Hospice Aide

Key Responsibilities

• Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting, and skin care.
• Aid with mobility needs such as repositioning, transfers, and walking assistance.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the patient.
• Assist with light housekeeping tasks related to patient care.
• Follow individualized care plans and maintain accurate records of care provided.
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
• Respect the privacy, dignity, and cultural beliefs of patients and their families.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team, including nurses, social workers, and chaplains, to ensure holistic care.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification (varies by state).
• Experience: Previous experience in hospice, home health, or elder care preferred.
• Skills: Compassionate, patient, and emotionally resilient; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; physical stamina to assist with patient mobility and care; basic knowledge of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care.
