CERTIFIED HAND THERAPIST, OUTPATIENT THERAPY SERVICES
About the role
The Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) provides specialized care including both evaluations and treatments of the hand, wrist and upper extremity. The position works primarily with diagnoses such as, but not limited to, post-operative orthopedic, trauma, burn or chronic system disorders which may impair the underlying function of the hand, wrist, elbow or shoulder. This role participates with inpatient/outpatient care as required by patient diagnosis and/or coverage needs.
Responsibilities
- Provides specialized care including both evaluations and treatments of the hand, wrist and upper extremity.
- Works primarily with diagnoses such as, but not limited to, post-operative orthopedic, trauma, burn or chronic system disorders which may impair the underlying function of the hand, wrist, elbow or shoulder.
- Participates with inpatient/outpatient care as required by patient diagnosis and/or coverage needs.
Requirements
- Active Georgia License as a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist
- Active Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification
- CPR certification
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation is preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in fabricating custom orthotics and splints to include static and dynamic.
- Strong knowledge of current therapeutic techniques and modalities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Membership in professional organizations such as the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) preferred.
- Completion of advanced coursework in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation preferred.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics related to the hand and upper extremity.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
