Certified Hand Therapist - Outpatient Rehab

Location: 100 Grand Street, New Britain, CT 10126

Schedule: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM Fridays; expectation to work until 7:00 PM two days per week

About the Role

We’re seeking a Certified Hand Therapist (Occupational Therapist) for our Outpatient Rehab Clinic in New Britain, CT. The Certified Hand Therapist independently evaluates patients’ level of hand and upper-extremity function and determines, develops, and implements individualized treatment goals and plans in alignment with patient and caregiver goals. You will assess, treat, and rehabilitate complex conditions and injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand to maximize mobility and remediate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough examination and evaluation of surgical and non-surgical patients’ upper-extremity function upon referral.
• Conduct evaluations for upper-extremity strength, motor control, joint mobility, soft-tissue integrity, pain, and functional abilities of daily living.
• Deliver therapeutic techniques tailored to each patient’s needs and medical status.
• Implement, deliver, and delegate patient care using appropriate interventions and clinical decision-making.
• Apply therapeutic techniques including exercises, pain management, wound care, swelling control, and orthotics.
• Fabricate upper-extremity orthoses as required by the treatment plan.

Requirements

• Outpatient occupational-therapy experience required.
• Hand-therapy experience; Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
• Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Connecticut.
• Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT®).
