Job Summary
Join Brentwood Surgery Center, part of HCA Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare services. As a Certified First Assist, you'll work under the surgeon's direction, providing essential support during operations.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited surgical assisting program and hold the CSFA credential
- BLS certification
- One year experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
- Hold the Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) credential
- Valid BCLS certification upon employment
What You Will Do
- Demonstrate practical, technical, and specialized knowledge in accordance with ASA standards
- Communicate with the surgeon before the case to determine specific needs
- Share information with the surgical team in a timely manner
- Aid in patient positioning, skin preparation, and surgical draping
- Anticipate and expedite the procedure to minimize patient stress
- Avoid exposure to surgical and anesthetic stress
- Ensure patient temperature is discussed with anesthesia personnel
- Provide retraction and exposure assistance during the procedure
- Facilitate hemostasis by performing suction, irrigation, and sponging
- Assist with skin or external suturing and stapling under the surgeon’s direction

About the Role
Brentwood Surgery Center is a new ambulatory surgery center set to open in July 2021 in Brentwood, Tennessee. It will offer outpatient surgeries from various specialties including orthopedics, total joints, endoscopy, general surgery, GYN, and podiatry. The facility is accredited by AAAHC and will be operated by HCA Healthcare, a company known for its commitment to ethical practices and charitable contributions.
