Certified CS/SPD Technician

Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital is located in the Treasure Coast of Florida and is dedicated to providing high-quality family-centric and community-focused care. As a Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will join a collaborative and innovative team of caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Perform case pull functions.
• Demonstrate proper handling of equipment, instrumentation, and chemicals while adhering to preventative maintenance schedules and PPE standards during the decontamination process.
• Scan, sort, and inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness.
• Assemble, wrap, and label instruments according to provided lists following documented procedures.
• Ensure proper cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and high-level disinfection of reusable instrumentation in accordance with AAMI ST79 standards.
• Maintain and control the distribution of supplies and equipment.
• Perform record-keeping functions within the electronic tracking system, including processing, sterilization, and quality assurance documentation.
• Participate in in-service education.
• Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatch them to appropriate locations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER or CER) within 18 months after hire unless an extension is granted at the purview of leadership.
• One year of healthcare experience or a similar background in mechanical/manufacturing assembly.
• Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), or similar, will be considered.
• Basic computer skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Ability to perform duties while standing, sitting, stooping, and reaching for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a continual basis.
• Ability to push, pull, and navigate carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to perform the basic functions of the job.
• Exposure to environments of bacterial and viral contamination, and possible exposure to sterilization gases.

Physical Requirements
