Overview

Kelemen 10 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients who have various needs and disease processes. Both North and South 10 have Telemetry capabilities for our patients. Each unit, North/South houses 36 patients and 2 hallway areas totaling a maximum of 76 patients.

• North 10 has a 36-bed capacity.
• South 10 has a 36-bed capacity plus a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit (INCU).
• South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room for specific isolation needs.

Responsibilities

• Support patients’ activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, mobility, transport) and follow standard precautions.
• Perform technical duties as directed by RN (phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care) and document appropriately.
• Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN and respond appropriately, maintaining safe patient practices.
• Reinforce education for patients and families regarding care needs and safety.
• Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives, performance improvement activities, and assist in orienting new hires.
• Complete annual hospital and unit-specific competencies by the required due date.
• Consistently adhere to safety protocols and quality standards to ensure a safe environment and high-quality patient care.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, visitors, and coworkers.

Requirements

• High School/GED required.
• Successful completion of Patient Care Technician training and have an active Patient Care Technician Certification required.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
• Successful completion of one of these certifications; CPT, CPCT-A, ACMA.

Special Requirements

• Part-time days, 24 hours a week.
• Hours: 7a-7:30p with weekend/holiday rotation.
