About the role

The Certified Crane Operator will operate various cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment, ensuring precision and adherence to safety protocols in challenging environments. This role is critical to the success of construction and maintenance projects.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate mobile, tower, and overhead cranes to lift and move materials and equipment.
  • Execute lifts according to job plans and engineering specifications, complying with load charts and operational limits.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections and perform routine maintenance checks on cranes.
  • Calculate load weights, select appropriate rigging, and ensure proper balance and secure attachment of loads.
  • Communicate with rigging crew and signalers to coordinate movements and ensure safe handling of materials.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement hazard mitigation measures.
  • Maintain detailed records of crane operations, including lift plans, inspection logs, and incident reports.
  • Provide regular updates to supervisors and project managers on crane activities and operational issues.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including riggers, signalers, and engineers, to ensure coordinated and efficient crane operations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to improving crane operation practices.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and advancements in crane technology.
  • Participate in training programs and certification updates to enhance skills and maintain compliance with safety standards.

Requirements

  • Valid crane operator certification (NCCCO or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating cranes in industrial, construction, or maintenance environments.
  • Proficiency in operating various types of cranes and understanding load charts, rigging practices, and safety regulations.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, lifting, and working in confined or elevated spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating cranes in oil and gas, power generation, or manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with advanced crane technologies and automation systems.
  • Additional certifications in rigging, signaling, or heavy equipment operation.

Work Environment

The role involves working in diverse settings such as construction sites, industrial facilities, and maintenance environments. Adaptability to varying work conditions and strict adherence to safety protocols are essential.
