Certified Crane Operator

Job Summary

The Crane Operator position at Summers-Taylor, Inc. is responsible for operating heavy crane equipment in a safe and appropriate manner at highway and civil heavy construction projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3-5 years of crane operating experience required, bridge construction preferred
• Class A or B CDL license with clean driving record and current DOT physical card required
• CIC, NCCO or equivalent OSHA-approved crane certification required
• Must be able to climb ladders, stand and walk on uneven surfaces as well as sit for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Duties And Responsibilities

• Operate crane to lift and move materials and other objects
• Plan all lifts, use capacity charts
• Perform rigging inspection and daily crane inspection
• Respond according to hand and/or verbal instructions
• Observe the travel of all loads and take appropriate action to avoid injury to personnel or damage to property
• Listen to warning alarms and respond accordingly, and dread boom angle and drum rotation indicators
• Ultimate responsible person during crane or hoisting operations to ensure the pick is safe
• Perform daily inspections and report findings using effective verbal and written communication skills
• Operate crawler and hydraulic cranes for bridge construction
• Keep equipment clean and well maintained on an ongoing basis
