Responsibilities

  • Performs building inspection and phone consultations
  • Responsible for enforcing Building, Residential, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, Plumbing, Housing, Fire, Electrical, and related Zoning/Stormwater Codes
  • Performs general office duties
  • Identifies complex problems and reviews related information in order to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Plans and reviews building permits
  • Handles office consultations
  • Performs other assigned duties

Requirements

  • Possess knowledge of code inspection practices and systems
  • Skillfully use computers, printers, and other office technology
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Implement scientific rules and methods to solve problems
  • Routinely maintain tactful and professional conversations with others, including while being confronted with controversial situations
  • Communicate effectively
  • Maintain organized working space, projects, and assignments
  • Bolster and sustain a professional demeanor with the public, colleagues, and other agencies, including calm, kind, and effective communications
