About the role
The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation seeks a certified coder to assign ICD and CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures, abstract codes and patient data into the Financial and Clinical computer systems.
Responsibilities
- Assigns ICD and CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures
- Abstracts codes and patient data into the Financial and Clinical computer systems
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Successfully passed Records Custodian Class
- Successfully completed and passed Medical Terminology Course
- Successfully completed and passed ICD-9 (or equivalent) Course
- Successfully completed and passed CPT-4 (or equivalent) Course
- 6 months experience in medical records
- Must be a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Professional Coder – Hospital based (CPC-H)
- Able to operate printers, copiers, faxes and shredders
- Able to use appropriate menus in the Clinical and Financial computer systems
- Able to use 3M’s Code 3 Coding and Reimbursement system
- Able to type 50 wpm or faster (corrected for errors)
