About the role

The Medical Assistant at Sentara Family Internal Medicine Physicians in Lake Ridge performs patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care tasks and procedures
• Provides administrative duties (as appropriate)
• Demonstrates the ability to objectively assess a specific situation from a few viewpoints
• Assists with the development of realistic action plans
• Evaluates outcomes
• Demonstrates the development of the specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants
• Effective inter-departmental interactions
• Able to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices
• Productive and efficient in daily operations
• Utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible

Requirements

• Must have one of the following Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic)
• BLS within 90 days of hire date
• 1 years of Clinical/Administrative experience required
