About the role
The Certification Engineer plays a crucial role within the Certification Team, focusing on airworthiness tasks related to Airbus commercial aircraft programs. This includes managing certifications, conducting approvals, and supporting customer requests for in-service repairs and upgrades.
Responsibilities
- Manage Certification Lead and conduct airworthiness approvals with certifying authorities, validating these approvals with importing country authorities.
- Handle a diverse workload involving various ATA sections and multiple programs, aligning with Customer Services' business needs and customer expectations.
- Communicate effectively with global Certification Team, Customer Aircraft Delivery Team, and other certification functions to ensure consistent approaches and practices.
- Interact with Technical, Change Management, and Certification Specialists to ensure appropriate solutions, especially addressing the variability in in-service aircraft configurations and single-aisle individual aircraft certification.
- Perform airworthiness approvals according to Airbus Design Organization Approval (DOA) privileges, including MOD, SB, RDAF, ADD, and airworthiness releases.
- Interface with Airworthiness authorities for all certification activities.
- Accept individual aircraft acceptance by customers and their local authorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
- 3 years of experience in Engineering or Airworthiness/Certification roles
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Effective in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Strong understanding and mentoring abilities within assigned disciplines
- Ability to interpret a broad range of technical aircraft topics
- Outstanding communication, coordination, and organizational skills
- Ability to interact and motivate diverse teams
- Authorized to work in the US
- Able to work any shift
Preferred Skills
- Nomination as Designated Airworthiness Engineer (DAE) or Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE)
- Experience with Airbus Aircrafts
- Familiarity with Modification (MOD), Service Bulletin (SB), and Repair & Design Approval Form (RDAF) deliverables of the Customer Service business
- Familiarity with In-Service Solutions and Change/Configuration Management

Schedule
This position initially will be on a regular shift. It requires working a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends on a rotational basis throughout the year.

- Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, read documents, reports, and engineering drawings
- Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone, hear safety warnings or alarms
- Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information, participate in communications
- Equipment operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts
- Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs
- Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs
- Pushing/Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools
- Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer
- Squatting/Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving
- Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor
- Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces
- Personal Protective Equipment: required PPE includes Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
