Certification Auditor (1099)

About the role

This is a 1099 opportunity for an experienced Certification Auditor. The primary function is to plan and conduct audits for all ABS QE audit programs as per relevant program requirements, maintain audit independence, and complete the audit report and other required post-audit activities. May also perform other necessary duties within their experience and capabilities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review management system manuals and associated documentation for compliance with requirements and applicable codes and/or standards.
• Plan, schedule, and conduct initial, surveillance, and re-certification audits.
• Prepare and maintain audit logs and all other required documentation.
• Prepare and issue reports and recommendations for certification.
• Lead introductory and closing meetings at client facilities.
• Set high standards to achieve results.
• Perform additional program-specific roles and responsibilities as defined in each program procedure.
• Comfortable with extensive domestic travel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited university, preferably in an engineering/technical discipline, or equivalent quality experience.
• Previous experience with Quality Control/Quality Assurance/Environmental/Safety & Health related activities, including auditing experience.
• Minimum three (3) years of industry experience typically in Health & Safety (risk management) and/or knowledge of labor legislation.
• Familiarity with appropriate system standards and competent in the areas to be assessed.
• Have passed an IRCA or similar Accredited 5-day Social Accountability, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or OHS 18001 Lead Auditor course.
• Previous experience with Social Accountability audits including SA 8000, SEDEX, SMETA, or CSR.
• Working knowledge of the SAI and/or SEDEX databases.
• Ability to obtain working knowledge of the ABS Quality Evaluations Quality & Environmental Management System.
