About the role
The position is located at Evergreen Middle School and serves students within the district's Spanish/English Dual Language pathway.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, standards-based Social Studies instruction in Spanish that promotes academic achievement, bilingualism, biliteracy, and sociocultural competence.
- Serve as a member of the Evergreen community by developing scholars who think critically and creatively about their roles in a diverse and interconnected global society.
- Plan and deliver engaging, culturally responsive lessons that integrate content standards, language development, and a variety of effective instructional strategies.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and organized classroom environment that values diversity, promotes respect, and affirms students' cultural and linguistic identities.
- Foster students' understanding of diverse cultures, perspectives, and historical experiences through inquiry-based and globally focused learning experiences.
- Collaborate with Dual Language, Multilingual Learning, and content-area colleagues to align curriculum, strengthen instructional practices, and develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Build positive partnerships with families and the school community to support student success and strengthen connections between home, school, language, and culture.
- Maintain accurate student records, communicate regularly with families, and participate in conferences and school-based initiatives.
- Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior while promoting self-discipline, responsibility, respect, and positive citizenship.
- Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and support staff to address students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and language development needs.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning related to Social Studies instruction, Dual Language education, multilingual learner supports, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials for substitute teachers as needed.
- Participate in school, district, and extracurricular activities that contribute to a positive school culture and support scholar success.
Requirements
- Current Washington State Teacher's Certificate with appropriate subject area endorsement(s).
- Bilingual in Spanish and English, with the ability to effectively deliver standards-based Social Studies instruction, communicate with students and families, and support biliteracy development in a Dual Language educational setting.

- Experience implementing Dual Language instructional practices, language acquisition strategies, and culturally responsive teaching.

- Knowledge of current trends and practices in education.

- Organizing the physical and human elements in the educational setting.
