Certificated Teacher - 3rd Grade

About the Role

Teachers help students learn skills and develop attitudes and appreciations that align with the District’s educational goals.

Responsibilities

• Perform classroom teaching and related duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
• Teach and follow the District’s Student Exit Outcomes at each level and subject area.
• Stay current on educational research, trends, and practices.
• Integrate a variety of instructional strategies and curriculum content.
• Establish immediate and long-range objectives aligned with District and building curricula.
• Prepare effective lesson plans, making lessons interesting and challenging.
• Provide clear explanations, assignments, and directions.
• Organize the classroom to support the learning process.
• Evaluate student progress regularly and maintain records for report cards and parent conferences.
• Collaborate with subject-area teachers to develop and align curriculum, instruction, and interdisciplinary projects.
• Enlist support from counselors, administration, and other personnel when needed.
• Provide lesson plans for guest teachers.
• Establish clear behavior parameters and discipline students in a firm, controlled manner.
• Encourage students to develop courtesy, self-control, respect, and responsibility.
• Enforce school-wide rules.
• Demonstrate continued professional development.
• Develop professional rapport with students.
• Participate in extra-curricular responsibilities.

Requirements

• Current Washington State Teacher’s Certificate with appropriate subject area endorsement(s).
• Criminal background clearance.
