Cert Patient Care Tech ACU FT 7P
This position performs nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care activities including personal, physical, and comfort needs of patients, under the supervision of a registered professional nurse. This position will provide high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.
About the role
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and completion of a nationally certified patient care technician program or WVUM Patient Care Technician program. A Certified Nursing Assistant Certification issued by the state where services are provided is also required. Prior patient care experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
- Affords assistance with admission, transfer, discharge, and general patient care duties.
- Records vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
- Records oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).
- Affords assistance with specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors, and employees.
- Reports all necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel according to departmental procedure in a timely manner.
- Affords assistance with preparing patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.
- Communicates with RN regarding any nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or verbalized lack of understanding of diet changes.
- Affords assistance with administrative tasks to support the department operations.
- Answers patient call bell and relays message to appropriate personnel.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Nationally certified patient care technician completion or WVUM Patient Care Technician program completion.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification issued by state where services are provided: OH – Nurse Aide through Ohio Nurses Aide Registry, WV – Nurse Aide through WV DHHR/OHFLAC.
- Prior patient care experience is preferred.
