Job Summary
Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values.
Works as part of the Patient Access team to schedule patients for outpatient tests and procedures by phone.
Verifies and enters demographic, insurance, pre-certification and medical necessity information.
Coordinates with patients, physician(s), physician office staff and other hospital employees to maintain accurate, up to date schedules, which minimize clinical downtime while emphasizing customer satisfaction.
Maintains a high level of accuracy and completes all patient interactions within designated timeframe.
Responsibilities
Accurately identifies patient records using 2 patient identifiers.
Schedules patients for correct test at correct facility.
Schedules patients promptly and efficiently.
Accurately enters data into the registration system, including medical, demographic, insurance, precertification, and medical necessity data.
Accurately relays prep / arrival times and directions to facilities.
Provides excellent customer service and service recovery when needed.
Prioritizes multiple simultaneous customer / physician / staff requests.
Successfully complete all mandatory training.
Manage personal time and attendance, notifying supervisor immediately of issues.
Utilize AIDET and HEATT to problem solve with patients, visitors, co-workers, and staff from other departments.

Qualifications
Education Required:
High School diploma/GED required.
Education Preferred:
Post secondary education preferred.
Experience:
Two to Three years in customer service/ public relations role preferred.
Will consider two years of previous work experience in other fields.
Previous experience with automated telephone equipment and multi-line telephone desired.
Medical Terminology and previous scheduling experience desired.
