Centralized Resource Pool (CRP) RN - Med/Surg

About the Role

Centralized Resource Pool (CRP) Registered Nurses are assigned to various Medical Surgical units and Ambulatory Care Centers based on departmental needs. This role provides care to adult or elderly patients who experience general medical conditions or general surgical procedures, requiring general assessments related to specific conditions and general therapies and interventions.

Responsibilities

• Implement the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Work with high-risk or critically ill patients and perform invasive nursing procedures associated with the area of specialty.
• Develop and implement education programs associated with the specialty.
• Organize, prioritize, and delegate work efficiently.
• Use computers and related software applications for documentation and communication.
• Communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals from various socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties.
• Ensure the efficient, effective, and safe use of medical equipment.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license by the Nevada State Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Minimum one (1) year of documented recent medical/surgical experience in an acute care setting.
• Telemetry certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of:
  • Nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and coordination of patient care).
  • Anatomy and physiology, standards of care, and disease processes.
  • Medical equipment and patient care plan development.
  • Patient evaluation and assessment techniques.
  • Body mechanics used with ambulating, transferring, and repositioning patients.
  • General office equipment (e.g., facsimiles, copiers, telephones, and computers).
  • Pharmacology and medication administration.
  • Nurse Practice Act, department and hospital safety practices, and patient rights.
  • Age-specific patient care practices and infection control policies.
  • Handling, storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
• Skill in:
  • Implementing the nursing process and working with high-risk or critically ill patients.
  • Performing invasive nursing procedures associated with the area of specialty.
  • Organizing, prioritizing, and delegating work effectively.
  • Using computers and related software applications.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment.
• Stamina to remain standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
• Strength to examine and treat varied patients.
• Vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen.
• Hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone.
• Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
