Central Supply Tech

Position Summary

Centers the coordination of purchasing, use, and maintenance of medical, nursing, and personal care supplies and equipment. Acts as liaison between the Nursing and Purchasing Departments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Captures annual blanket orders for medical, nursing, and personal care supplies and equipment.

• Maintains organization and cleanliness of all storage areas for medical, nursing and personal care supplies and equipment.

• Maintains ongoing inventory of all medical, nursing, and personal care supplies and equipment.

• Follows up on capital nursing and medical items that should be or have been ordered throughout the year.

• Researches and assists both Nursing and purchasing with individual items that should be or have been ordered.

• Orders items required on blanket and running orders.

• If an order is back-ordered, appropriately notifies Purchasing and Director of Nursing.

• Receives and properly stores all supplies and equipment.

• Monitors and records all supplies used by residents covered under Medicare B.

• Maintains and tests autoclave.

• Orders, maintains in good repair, monitors use of and maintains cleanliness of medical equipment for patient use.

• Stocks and maintains par levels of supply areas on each nursing station.

• Copies and stocks standard forms as requested for each nursing unit.

• Receives requests, fills and distributes office supplies to each nursing unit.

Qualifications Required

• A high school diploma or equivalent.

• Prior central supply experience.

• Prior experience with inventory control and purchasing.
