Central Services Risk Management Internship
Risk Management
The Department of Central Services - Risk Management is seeking temporary, unpaid interns with a minimum of 10 hours/week and a maximum of 24 hours/week. All work hours must be done Monday - Friday during standard business hours (8 am - 4:30pm).
Examples of Duties and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Review root cause analysis related to workers’ compensation and liability claim files
- Review incident and accident reports to identify patterns of organizational risk
- Interpret departmental procedure manuals and standard operating procedures regarding special claims investigative strategies
- Perform medical billing statistical analysis regarding unique claims handling practices
- Create departmental correspondences and communicate with departmental staff to assist with associated handling of tasks
Describe the Intern's principal learning assignments and/or projects
Interns will develop an understanding of the workers compensation claim process along with the ability to apply I/O psychology principles to real-world risk and claims challenges. They will also learn about Safety requirements specific to Local Government, allowing for participation in gaining additional learning and possible certificate opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates should be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field (ex: Human Services, Public Relations, Marketing, Social Work)
- All applicants/students must have a cumulative *GPA of a 3.0+
- Students are required to upload an official or unofficial transcript to their application to demonstrate their enrollment status and GPA
