Schedules outpatient tests for hospital departments and appointments for physician practices
Schedules hospital outpatient tests and appointments for physician practices within multiple scheduling systems.
Pre-registers all patients.
Obtains and advises patients of all necessary pre-certification, and referrals for financial reimbursement.
Collaborates with hospital departments and physician practices to schedule outpatient tests and physician appointments while coordinating appropriate dates and times according to department and practice protocols.
Acts as a resource for Scheduler I or II.
Functions as a super user for all computer applications pertinent to multiple scheduling systems.
Conducts department specific training of new employees in multiple scheduling systems and continues to support employees during their probationary period and beyond.
Acts as a liaison for hospital departments and physician practices.
Ensures that all appropriate staff, patients, departments, and physician practices are notified of additions, changes, and cancellations.
Adheres to Capital Health policies as well as interdepartmental policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Three years departmental/scheduling experience.
Other Credentials
- Knowledge and Skills: Strong customer service skills. Strong insurance and precertification knowledge. Intermediate medical terminology. Demonstrates proficiency of all insurance requirements for outpatient tests and physician appointments.
Special Training
- Intermediate computer skills.

- Ability to multitask in a high volume environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with directors, managers, and supervisors.
