Central Market (Dallas) Cooking School Instructor - Part time

About the Role

A Sales Specialist will apply basic and some advanced skills in procedures and techniques specific to the area of specialization. The role involves ordering assigned products to maximize sales, merchandising, and selling products while working under direct supervision and following detailed instructions.

Responsibilities

• Identify and address high priority activities first
• Provide excellent customer service
• Organize, clean, and prepare back area for incoming deliveries
• Keep sales floor uncluttered and free from spills
• Stock and rotate items as needed, maintaining standards for shrink, safety, and inventory control
• Reset products and maintain shelf conditions, ensuring integrity of shelf tags and signage
• Check shipments for out-of-date and damaged product to ensure freshness and quality
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation
• Maintain standards in shrink, safety, and inventory control
• Assist in merchandising the department to maximize sales
• Use suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales

Duties may be modified at any time based on business needs, and employees may be required to perform other job-related tasks as requested by their supervisor.

Requirements

• Typically requires 2-5 years of experience
• Previous retail or restaurant experience
• Knowledge of department product, food preparation, and equipment
• Extensive knowledge of specialty food products and food preparation
• Strong customer service skills
• Passion for food
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Qualifications

• Materials Handling Equipment certification (Required)

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures
• Must be able to manage weights in excess of 25 lbs., up to 50 lbs.
