About the role
The Center Operations Support Partner plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive environment for children, families, and staff. This position ensures the center is well-maintained through custodial and maintenance duties while also providing operational and classroom support as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily custodial duties, including cleaning classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas to maintain a healthy and sanitary environment.
- Ensure safe and proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies, and notify supervisor of needed materials or repairs.
- Conduct regular playground sweeps and safety checks, ensuring the area is free from hazards and safe for children's use.
- Provide classroom support when needed, assisting with supervision, transitions, and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
- Cover staff lunch breaks or other short-term absences to maintain classroom ratios and ensure uninterrupted care and supervision.
- Support teachers and staff during arrival and dismissal routines, meal times, and center events as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance or custodial requests to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met.
- Aid in the setup and breakdown of furniture, equipment, and materials for classrooms or events.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures in accordance with state licensing, Head Start, and organizational policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with staff, families, and children.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support center operations and the overall mission of the organization.
- Flexible to travel to other centers to assist when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior custodial, maintenance, or early childhood center experience preferred.
- Experience working in a team environment and supporting diverse staff and families is a plus.
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation standards consistently.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, organized environment.
- Flexibility to shift between custodial, classroom, and operational support tasks throughout the day.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with staff, children, and families.
- Ability to lift, move, or carry items up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as needed.
