About the Role
The Center Manager ensures that center staff provides children with a learning environment and varied experiences that will help them develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their age and stages of development toward the overall goal of social competence. Ensures that full enrollment is maintained at all times. Facilitates ongoing thorough and clear understanding of Head Start program and Performance Standards to all center level staff.
Responsibilities
- Ensures center operates in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and standards, including Agency Policies and other contractual agreements.
- Facilitates ongoing thorough and clear understanding of Head Start program and Performance Standards to all center level staff.
- Directly coordinates supportive services offered by all other Head Start/Early Head Start component areas.
- Inspects center facilities daily for health, safety, fire, and occupancy violations and takes necessary corrective action to assure that clearances, permits, and licenses remain effective and up-to-date.
- Ensures all children’s files are complete, accurate, and up-to-date with all information required by Head Start Performance Standards and regulations.
- Directly supervises center level staff to ensure all are operating according to the terms of the HS (Head Start) Program Performance Standards/TDFPS (Texas Department of Family and Protective Services) Licensing/TEA (Texas Education Agency)/NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children).
- Establishes and maintains effective oral and written communication with the Senior Operations Coordinator, collaborative partners, and program team members.
- Conducts classroom and teacher observation and provides onsite consultation to teaching staff, as appropriate.
- Reads and analyzes data from GOLD (Guidance for Online Learning and Development) online assessment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Curriculum and Instruction (EDCI), Educational Administration, Business Administration, or Management (Required). A combination of less education and experience may also be considered.
- Work Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years of classroom teaching experience.
- Skills:
- Excellent mediation, oral, and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and successful experience working in teams.
- Ability to plan, organize, allocate, and control substantial financial, human, and physical resources.
- Knowledge of the Head Start/Early Child Development program philosophy and structure (desirable).
- Computer Proficiency: Intermediate skill in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Language Requirements: Bilingual preferred, but not required.
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Ability to obtain Director’s Certificate through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (Required upon hire).
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (Required upon hire).
- First Aid Certification (Required upon hire).
