Center-Based Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Life Skills Autism Academy is seeking exceptional behavior technicians to support the development of children on the Autism Spectrum through ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapy in a 1:1 setting under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

About the Role

Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) help children acquire critical developmental skills such as language and communication, social behaviors, and school readiness. Candidates must hold and maintain current RBT certification as issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or be willing to complete a 40-hour training course and sit for the RBT competency exam within 45 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings using intensive teaching and natural environment training.
• Follow prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as outlined in client’s individualized treatment plan.
• Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
• Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with the client’s individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
• Ensure documentation is completed on time and following established procedures.
• Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by BCBA/BC.
• Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when working with clients and report all critical incidents and safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
• Assist BCBA/BC in preparation of client materials, behavior reduction assessments, and skills acquisition.

Requirements

• Must hold and maintain current RBT certification (or be willing to complete training and exam within 45 days of employment).
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Reliable transportation; in some cases, proof of driver’s license and valid car insurance is required.
• Willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification and a TB test if not completed in the past year.
• Must be able to physically perform the job, including frequent floor activities, lifting up to 50 lbs, and the ability to move quickly for client safety.
• Must be reliable and punctual for all scheduled therapy appointments.
• Professional presentation and conduct at all times.
• Patience to keep clients on task and ability to maintain emotional control during challenging behaviors.
• Positive attitude and drive to help children acquire new skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise, repetitive instructions.
• Proficiency with technology to record data on mobile devices and navigate digital applications.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong cultural competency and flexibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Behavioral Technician, working with children with autism or other learning disabilities, Teacher’s Aid, Tutor, CNA, Caregiver, or Home Health Aide.

Pay

$17 – $23 per hour, dependent on qualifications, performance, experience, and seniority.
