Cemetery Maintenance

About the role

Cemetery grounds maintenance at Carriage Services involves assisting with the interment of decedents and maintaining the physical appearance and condition of the grounds and facilities at Oakmont Memorial Park.

Responsibilities

• Completes preparation and closure of interment sites in accordance with client family expectations and policies and procedures.
• Installs, restores, and resets markers and monuments as per work orders and company guidelines.
• Maintains grounds, paths, and driveways according to the maintenance schedule and weather conditions.
• Picks up and disposes of trash and litter from the grounds.
• Performs minor maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of power equipment.
• Refers serious issues to mechanics and assists with loading and unloading of supplies, equipment, and merchandise.
• Identifies and remedies all hazards at the location and on the grounds.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to show respect and sensitivity toward client families while working in a physically demanding environment.
• Effective communication skills, both internally and externally.
• Outdoor work capability, including exposure to extreme temperatures, inclement weather, dust, gas, and fumes.
• Sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate power equipment.
• Willingness to work safely and comply with safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment.
• Regularly required to climb, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and frequently lift up to 75 pounds.
• Routine exposure to chemicals and/or blood borne pathogens.
• Must be able to drive a company vehicle and maintain a good driving record, being insurable under company vehicle insurance.
