Serve Virginia's veterans and their family members by ensuring they receive the benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have earned through service and sacrifice.
Responsibilities
- Perform all cemetery grounds maintenance procedures and practices, including operations related to garden/section maps, pins, and gravesite numbering system for laying out each site.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on cemetery light and heavy equipment.
- Operate power hand tools, perform plastering, plumbing, roof repairs, and carpentry.
- Lift and maneuver 220-pound grave markers with the assistance of one additional person.
- Escort visitors to gravesites in all weather conditions.
- Support funeral services in all types of weather, including rain, snow, ice, extreme heat, and cold.
Requirements
- Familiarity with cemetery grounds maintenance procedures and practices.
- Experience with preventative maintenance of light and heavy equipment.
- Ability to operate power hand tools and perform plastering, plumbing, roof repairs, and carpentry.
- Ability to lift and maneuver a 220-pound grave marker with assistance.
- Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.
Qualifications
Any combination of education and job experience that leads to the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above. The following are preferred:
- Knowledge of the funeral industry and operation of cemeteries.
- Knowledge of NCA (National Cemetery Association) rules and regulations regarding eligibility of veterans and dependents.
Pay
$45,500 (Hiring Range)
