About the role

The Cement Heavy Haul driver transports field storage bins and equipment to various locations, performs daily inspections and maintenance on equipment, and blows down units to ensure all residual cement mix from previous jobs is fully removed.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve and safely deliver field storage bins
• Communicate with dispatch to confirm proper movement of equipment and cement and to verify customer instructions
• Perform hotshot pickups
• Deliver cement equipment to various locations
• Perform daily maintenance on equipment and maintain upkeep of vehicles
• Blow down unit to ensure removal of all residual cement mix from the previous job
• Maintain accurate daily Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA) E-LOG requirements
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensure equipment is operational, and verify proper fluid levels
• Always fuel up before return trip
• Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 3 years CDL-A driving experience preferred
• Maintain a valid CDL and clean driving record
• Maintenance experience required
• Knowledge of all equipment used in cement operations
• Familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations
• Able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug test and physical examination
• Able to pass a road test
• Able to operate both manual and automatic transmissions
• Able to perform pre- and post-trip CMV inspection
• Familiar with electronic logging devices
• Able to deliver field storage bins to very limited size spaces
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Independent worker, must be able to safely perform duties with little or no supervision

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop or bend; and talk or hear
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Must be physically able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, walk on uneven surfaces, and climb equipment ladders or stairs throughout the work shift
• Must be physically able to safely lift 50 lbs. above head
• Must be physically able to withstand all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold

Work Environment

• Noise level in some work environments can be moderate
• May encounter extreme weather conditions while performing major duties
