Responsibilities
- Perform all duties as listed on the Operator instructions and within their respective work cell.
- Production:
- Communicate with outgoing Cell Leader regarding any issues or changes.
- Inspect the cell prior to the arrival of the team and ensure discrepancies from the previous shift are addressed.
- Conduct T1 meetings, discussing the T1 sheet and any Alerts received.
- Assign employees to their workstations.
- Provide the cell with necessary materials (packaging, documentation, forms, pens, cutters, safety equipment, etc.) to ensure smooth operation.
- Ensure all standard work instructions are posted and followed correctly.
- Maintain housekeeping standards without adversely affecting efficiencies.
- Ensure the safety of all cell members; report unsafe acts or conditions to the Supervisor.
- Prepare the cell for the next shift, ensuring full productivity can begin without reduction in efficiency or quality.
- Address disposition of all items and product within the cell (e.g., partial boxes, materials on hold).
- Ensure labels and bins are correctly located and labeled at workstations.
- Cover or assign relief operators for breaks and lunches.
- Communicate relevant information to the incoming cell leader.
- Input detailed work orders for automation and tool room issues affecting production.
- Quality:
- Ensure all quality procedures are followed, including labeling and quantity checks.
- Verify operators follow standard work and inspection procedures.
- Perform red rabbits prior to job commencement and as prompted.
- Take appropriate action when a Quality Alert is received, including issuing required DMRs.
- Contain all product from non-certified operators as per the versatility chart.
- Communicate New Launch and Issue containment requirements to containment operators.
- General Duties:
- Promote efficiency improvement while maintaining expected quality levels.
- Accurately track labor hours and report to supervisor daily.
- Foster continuous improvement efforts and ensure communication and follow-up to management.
- Facilitate open and honest communication with Supervisors, PE’s, Cell Team, and other employees.
- Promote pride of workmanship, urgency, consistency, punctuality, and a positive team approach through leadership by example.
- Communicate specific duties and responsibilities to cell team members prior to program changes.
- Ensure Plex, Poke Yoke, and workstations are properly set up prior to changeover completion.
- Monitor production to schedule and adjust as necessary to achieve desired quantity; notify supervisor if schedule cannot be met.
- Train Operators as directed by the Supervisor and record training on the Versatility chart.
- Complete first aid training and administer first aid when needed.
- Complete Emergency Response training and assist management during evacuations.
- Attend additional meetings and training sessions as required.
- Conduct WIP counts according to schedule and communicate results.
- Update the 4D Board daily, including:
- Scrap percentage calculation and tracking.
- Completing wellness sheets.
- Updating versatility charts (weekly).
- Understand and perform the following procedures:
- Error Skid Inspection.
- Repack.
- Live Freight Parts.
- Dropped in shipping.
