About the role

The purpose of this position is to safely manufacture copper fittings that meet quality specifications set both internally and by the customer. This will be accomplished chiefly through setting up and operating any and all manual and automated machinery associated with the cost center, cleaning the work area and equipment, and performing any other assigned duties as deemed necessary by area supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate manually-fed and automated machinery: safely start, support, troubleshoot, maintain, and clean all assignable machinery; may include use of powered lift equipment and work on fixed elevated platforms.
• Inspect manufactured fittings to quality specifications using plug and ring gages, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area: sweeping, mopping, removal of manufacturing by-products, and cleaning of surrounding work areas.
• Flow to available work: work in other manufacturing areas as dictated by new order flow; assignments to other areas may last for indeterminate periods.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines.
• Support the safety committee and participate in safety initiatives.

Requirements

• Experience successfully operating and maintaining the machinery associated with this work area; experience with heavy manufacturing equipment (manual and/or automated) is favorable.
• Familiarity with quality checks for production of wrot copper fittings is a plus.
• If qualifications are equal, time of service will be the deciding factor.
• Internal applicants must meet tenure requirements: 18 months in current position for hourly/salary level 1 roles; 24 months for salary levels 2‑5; 30 months for salary level 6 or above; internal applicants limited to advancing no more than two salary levels.
