CEI Inspector

About the role

RK&K's Construction Engineering Inspection and Construction Management Division is hiring a CEI Inspector to join our team in East Tennessee. As a CEI Inspector with RK&K, you will strengthen our Construction Engineering and Inspection team while performing routine inspections on projects including highway, bridge, design/design-build projects. Responsibilities

• Provide construction management support, including inspection, testing, and monitoring of construction ensuring compliance with contract documents
• Engage in solving intermediate problems to provide evaluation and sound solutions
• Maintain oversight of the activities of other inspectors
• Communicate effectively across different platforms with project management, clients, stakeholders, and contractors
• Interface with clients, state and federal agencies, and other engineering disciplines on construction projects
• Recordkeeping, materials testing, and reporting as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three (3) + years of progressive experience in roadway and structures construction
• Working knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and construction methods, materials, and equipment
• Ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts; and interpret construction plans, provisions, standards, and specifications
• Ability to train, coordinate, and supervise entry level inspection technicians in the field

Qualifications

• Skilled in both roadway and bridge construction
• Survey experience
• Preferred: Required TDOT certifications

Physical Demands

• The ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites
• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Navigate uneven terrain
• Climb ladders or stairs
• Lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards
