Cebuano Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring bilingual Cebuano-English phone interpreters to work from home. We offer a remote position in the United States where interpreters handle calls on demand, bridging communication gaps in various industries.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocols, avoiding omissions or additions.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the interpreting sessions at all times.
• Remain calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations like 911 calls.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and comply with protocol to meet client expectations.
• Understand and adhere to protocol and terminology for various industries, including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
• Handle calls involving sensitive topics such as end of life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters concerning sexual orientation and/or gender expression.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Cebuano and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to concentrate, stay detached, and remain neutral during interpreting sessions.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Able to adapt to LLS technology enhancements.
• At least 18 years old.
• Licensed to work in the United States.
• Ability to read and write the requested languages preferred.

Pay

$0.65 - $0.80 per minute.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse for the majority of the workday.
• Must have sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
• Must be able to lift up to 26 lbs.
• May be exposed to moderate noise levels.

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• Desktop/Laptop Computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS.
• Tablets (iPadOS or Android).
• Smartphones (iOS or Android).
• Restricted brands: Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware.
• High-speed Internet connection with download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, Ping value of no more than 300 ms, and Jitter value of no more than 30 ms.
• Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
