Description Of Duties
- Prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
- Provide instruction on the parts and functions of a vehicle and on-road regulations/rules.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Teach practical skills related to all aspects of driving including classroom and driving activities.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology/simulators to support instruction.
- Maintain truck/trailer and provide maintenance reports on all equipment.
- Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, policies and school regulations.
- Prepare required reports on students and activities.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom and on the range by enforcing rules and procedures.
- Keep up to date with developments in subject area.
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling of classes, gathering student packets and clearing them for registrations, interviewing students for acceptance into academy, certifying students are eligible to take exam, tracking of licensure rates, etc.
- Perform recruiting activities which may include college fairs, high school presentations, business and industry presentations, etc.
- Report all accidents to the Director of Continuing Education/Dean of Instructional Services.
Qualifications And Requirements
- Experience and Training: Current Commercial Driver License with 3-5 years of experience. Commercial Driver’s license with a five (5) year safe driving record. Three years verifiable Over the Road Experience.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning operations of all motor vehicles especially truck and trailer laws. Computer applications related to the work. Demonstrate outstanding instructional skills. Ability to be flexible, and interface professionally with all levels of internal and external customers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL training/teaching experience preferred.
Salary Or Salary Range
This is a full time 12-month faculty position with full time benefits. The salary for this position is based on the faculty salary schedule. The salary is $52,152 to $53,724 depending on education and experience.
