CDL Truck Driver/ Heavy Equipment Operator
About the role
Williamsburg County Public Works Department is accepting applications for a full‑time Truck Driver/Heavy Equipment Operator. Under regular supervision, the incumbent operates heavy equipment and vehicles to perform various road maintenance and construction tasks for Williamsburg County, uses various tools and performs manual labor to accomplish related assignments.
Responsibilities
- Operates a motor grader, backhoe, and other various types of equipment to perform tasks associated with road construction and maintenance, including grading, digging drainage ditches, hauling sand and debris, etc.
- Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs of equipment.
- Exercises care and safety when using equipment and tools required to complete assigned tasks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- CDL license required.
- One to two years of experience in heavy equipment operation and/or construction, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in heavy equipment operation and/or construction, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- CDL license required.
Reporting structure
This position reports to the Public Works Director / Public Works Foreman.
