Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize safety: Maintain a strong safety mindset while driving and performing all job duties.
- Follow regulations: Comply with all FMCSA/DOT requirements and company policies at all times.
- Haul and handle products: Load, transport, and unload assigned agricultural products using efficient fuel, hauling, and loading practices.
- Inspect equipment: Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and document truck condition.
- Review daily schedules: Obtain daily load times and locations, then drive to destinations using sound commercial driving skills and regulatory knowledge.
- Maintain electronic logs: Keep accurate electronic driver logs in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Monitor truck system: Regularly check tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, water, and other essential equipment.
- Support maintenance needs: Make trucks and trailers available for scheduled maintenance and report issues promptly.
Key Skills & Abilities
- Maneuvering in tight spaces: Safely back up, position, and operate the truck in confined or crowded areas.
- Language & communication: Read and understand basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple, clear messages; and communicate effectively in one-on-one or small-group settings with customers, clients, and team members.
Typical Education
- A High School Diploma or General Education (GED)
- CDL Truck Driver school
Relevant Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience operating commercial vehicles under a CDL-A license is required.
Requirements
- Must have a valid Class A CDL with proper endorsements
- Must have a current/valid DOT Medical Certification
- Must be at least 21 years of age due to travel requirements, or 18 years of age to operate solely in intrastate capacity only.
- Must meet DOT qualifications
- Must accurately and timely complete Company and DOT required forms
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently sits in driver’s seat of truck, while driving as well as while waiting.
- The employee frequently uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reaches with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend over or stoop.
- Must be able to hook up and unhook tractor and related lines to and from trailer.
- The employee is required to climb and balance while getting in and out of the truck and while hooking and unhooking lines to and from the trailer.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions during all weather seasons of the year.
- The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
