CDL Truck Driver - Commercial Driving

Responsibilities

• Delivery of product to our customers and other Trinidad Benham facilities utilizing combination Dry Van or Hopper trailers.
• Operation of truck (CDL Class A with manual transmission required) to deliver and pick up loads as requested by shipping and receiving department in a safe, efficient, timely, and legal manner.
• Daily truck and trailer inspections prior to use.
• Observe and report equipment or mechanical failures immediately.
• Complete all necessary paperwork and electronic logs in order to maintain accurate records for all trips required under state and federal laws and regulations.
• Maintain expense log with all receipts.
• Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance, including keeping the tractor clean.
• Communicate with management and maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate maintenance and repairs.
• Comply with company safety policies and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms.
• Provide support to plant operations as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Shipping Supervisor or Lead.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Commercial Driver License in good standing
• One year over the road experience
• Knowledge of all applicable DOT and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

Skills

• Ability to perform basic math skills.
• Effectively communicate questions, problems, and reports to co-workers, supervisors, and management personnel.
• Flexibility to accommodate unscheduled changes in duties and work overtime as needed.
• Ability to obtain a Powered Industrial Truck certification.
• Must display a positive attitude and work well with all levels of personnel.

Work Conditions & Physical Environment

• Frequently (more than 25% of time) required to: stand and/or walk, use ladders, climb stairs, bend and stoop, reach, push/pull, kneel and crouch.
• Lift, carry and/or move items up to 100 pounds, without assistance.
• Use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, to verbally communicate, and to hear.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Frequently exposed to a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Frequently (more than 25% of time) exposed to dust and loud noise.
• Frequently (more than 75% of time) exposed to machinery and mechanical, moving parts.
• Personal protective equipment, such as hearing protection, safety glasses, hair net, and food safety-related items, is required.
• Available for occasional overnight trips and have the ability to remain alert while driving for periods of time up to 11 hours.

$22.00 - $24.00 / hour
