CDL Truck Driver (Class A)
About the role
Hood Distribution is seeking a CDL Truck Driver (Class A) for our Birmingham, AL facility. We are a wholesale distributor of hardwood lumber, plywood, moldings, and related wood products, serving cabinet shops, millwork houses, retail lumber yards, and similar businesses. Candidates must have experience driving a manual truck.
Responsibilities
- Deliver lumber and building materials to cabinet/millwork shops and lumber dealers.
- Follow trucking dispatcher and logistics directions to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
- Assist customers with unloading trucks as needed.
- Ensure all delivered materials are properly loaded onto trucks and securely fastened for travel in accordance with company standards.
- Comply with all DOT regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist in the warehouse when no delivery is scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid State CDL Class A Driver’s License.
- Clean/good driving record.
- Prior tarping experience related to truck deliveries.
- Familiarity with operating a forklift.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Professional and customer-oriented attitude.
High school diploma/GED preferred. Applicants must consent to a background check and drug screen. All employment offers are contingent on meeting background check standards and passing the required drug test. Documentation of legal right to work in the U.S. is required if hired.
Pay
$22.00–$24.00 per hour.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, home nightly.
