About the Role

The Shuttle Driver position is responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe transportation, loading, and unloading of passengers and employees to and from the airport terminal and employee parking. All activities must support the safety and welfare of all passengers.

Responsibilities

  • Reliable and punctual attendance
  • Work well with others as a strong team player
  • Greet customers, respond promptly to correspondence, resolve problems, and develop rapport with passengers
  • Offer to lift and carry baggage onto the shuttle or luggage trailer for storage
  • Anticipate guest needs and exhibit a sincere desire to meet or exceed them
  • Assist passengers with general information about the local area
  • Work with or without supervision and follow directions from supervisors
  • Promote good customer relations by providing premier customer satisfaction with a friendly demeanor and willingness to help
  • Provide daily transportation for passengers to and from destinations
  • Perform pre- and post-inspection activities to ensure proper operating conditions, adherence to company and DOT standards, and compliance with safety and maintenance standards
  • Assist passengers when boarding and exiting the vehicle, including operating specialized equipment for passengers with special needs (e.g., wheelchair lifts and tie-downs)
  • Provide customers with space reminders and educate them on where to catch the shuttle upon return to the airport
  • Inform guests/visitors of parking services and fees, direct them to pick-up/drop-off points, and use the loudspeaker appropriately
  • Prepare and submit accident/incident reports in a timely manner
  • Perform daily and routine cleaning and shuttle maintenance; maintain neat and orderly appearance, including assigned uniforms
  • Exercise care in handling funds and reporting lost articles
  • Conduct refueling activities and maintain assigned fuel usage logs
  • Comply with federal DOT requirements, state driving regulations, city and airport safety rules, and procedures
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with passengers, coworkers, supervisors, and managers
  • Use a two-way radio to communicate professionally with dispatch and supervisors
  • Report accidents, problems, and shuttle information (mechanical and cosmetic) to management promptly
  • Keep the shuttle bus secure and follow all safety procedures
  • Maintain alertness and observe all activities, taking appropriate actions as needed
  • Adhere to all safety codes and OSHA standards
  • Respond to guest/visitor inquiries and resolve service discrepancies respectfully
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Must be fully vaccinated

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in various elements (heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.)
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours a day)
  • Ability to drive continuously for a minimum of 2–3 hours
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and lift frequently throughout a shift
  • Ability to apply pressure with fingers and palm
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions using hands, wrists, arms, ankles, knees, and hips
  • Ability to express or exchange information, instructions, and ideas through spoken word
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make discriminations in sound
