Job Responsibilities
- Maintain a valid CDL A driver’s license and DOT medical card, in good standing while operating a company vehicle.
- Follow all company policies and procedures and all State/Federal laws, to include a pre-trip inspection each time prior to taking a vehicle on the road. Report and safety concerns in a timely manner.
- Securely load a delivery/semi-truck according to the manifest while packing the product to prevent damage during transport.
- Able to lift and move furniture and mattresses in a safe manner from the dock to the truck, the truck to the store back room, and back again if required.
- Follow all invoice instructions both electronically or via paper and report any concerns to management.
- Verify delivery and pick-up manifests to ensure proper movement and inventory accuracy.
- Communicate with transfer manager and store manager any discrepancies in what is expected to be delivered/picked up compared to what is on the manifest.
- Always maintain the cab of the truck in a clean and professional manner.
- Conduct pre-trip inspection of the truck prior to operating the vehicle and never take out a vehicle with a safety concern.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to back-room stock personnel to ensure proper protection of goods returning to DC.
- Communicate with management is key to ensuring proper systematic and physical inventory movement.
Work Environment
- This job operates in a warehouse and dock environment and operating a delivery truck / vehicle during deliveries.
- This role routinely uses tools to aid in furniture movement and protection.
- The temperature varies by the season and the area is not well insulated due to all the dock doors being opened during load out.
- Subject to working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Physical Demands
- The employee must safely operate a company vehicle.
- The employee must occasionally sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 150 pounds or move with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Required Education and Experience
- A High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Possess a valid CDL A driver’s license.
- Able to safely operate a 53 ft. semi tractor and trailer.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Prior experience driving a commercial vehicle is preferred.
Qualifications Needed to Perform This Position
- Must be able to pass a preplacement background check and drug test.
- Must possess a valid CDL A license, in good standing.
- Adhere to all State and Federal driving laws.
- Professional appearance always in company uniform, following grooming and hygiene standards.
- Able to lift and move furniture and mattresses in a safe manner throughout the shift.
- Outstanding customer service skills.

- Ability to stay alert and attentive for a safe and efficient shift.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- The shift for this position is 12:00am-7:00am and is a full-time position.
- Shifts may vary based on the needs of the business.
- Once a route is assigned, the expectation is that the work shift is not over until the final delivery is completed.
- Overtime may be required based on the needs of the business.
