Responsibilities
- Safely operate roll-off trucks to deliver, pick up, and transport 1040 yard containers
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance needs
- Secure loads and operate hydraulic and auto-tarp systems
- Ensure proper and safe placement of containers at residential, commercial, and industrial sites
- Maintain compliance with all DOT and local safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch to stay on schedule and respond to route changes
- Accurately complete required documentation, such as logs, delivery records, and weight tickets
- Provide professional, courteous service to customers and represent the company positively on-site
- Maintain a clean, safe vehicle and follow all company safety protocols
- Navigate assigned routes efficiently using GPS and dispatch instructions
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or Class B CDL with a clean driving record and current DOT Medical Card
- A minimum of nine years of total driving experience and 2 years of experience with a CDL
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, safety standards, and defensive driving practices
- Ability to safely operate roll-off trucks and related equipment, including hook lifts, hydraulic systems, and automatic tarping systems
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections accurately
- Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using GPS, dispatching applications, and electronic logging systems
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50-75 pounds and work in varying outdoor weather conditions
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial motor vehicle
- Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and enter/exit trucks and equipment safely
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry 50-75 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Secure loads and operate hydraulic and auto-tarp systems and occasionally hand tarp
- Frequent use of hands, arms, and feet to safely operate vehicle controls, tarping systems, occasionally hand tarp, and related equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, loud noise, dust, debris, and odors
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather and temperature conditions
- Ability to safely navigate uneven ground, construction sites, transfer stations, and landfill environments
- Must meet all DOT physical and medical requirements for commercial driver
