CDL Residential Front Load Driver

About the role

Residential Front Load Drivers service customers on assigned route(s) with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. This position requires the ability to operate different trucks, so excellent driving and maneuvering skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks in a safe and compliant manner to provide trash or recycling removal services to customers by emptying trash/recycling carts into truck and hauling to disposal site
• May be required to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings
• Replace trash/recycling carts neatly at the curb or designated area
• Clean up waste spills and overflows
• Maintain and update route sheets
• Maintain cleanliness of truck cab
• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body while following proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Valid Class B CDL
• Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain prior to hire
• At least 19 years of age
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• No DUI’s or OVI’s within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Ability to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, and safety training

Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand a map and/or navigation system
• Ability to drive all types of trucks in residential fleet
• Excellent truck driving and maneuvering skills
• General knowledge of truck mechanics
• Good written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
• Waste industry experience (a plus)
• Previous CDL driving experience (preferred)

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling a maximum of 20 lbs
• Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling a maximum of 50 lbs
• Rarely lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling a maximum of 100 lbs
• Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• Frequently climbing and/or balancing
• Continuously sitting
• Occasionally standing and walking

Working Conditions

• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
