CDL Operator / Laborer - Chadbourn, NC

R.J. Corman is currently seeking a CDL-A Operator / Laborer at its Carolina Line based out of Chadbourn, NC. This candidate will operate commercial vehicles such as dump trucks, grapple trucks, etc. in a safe manner in support of inspection, installation, and maintenance of railroad track. This position requires some travel. Responsibilities Operate Specialized equipment (i.e. Backhoe, Crew Truck, Prentice Truck etc.) Performs preventative maintenance on heavy or specialized equipmentMaintains proper equipment appearance and cleanlinessMay perform labor duties as neededCommunicates with supervisor throughout the job processEnsures working conditions are safe and that proper PPE is being used as job duties requireFollow DOT regulations; ensuring proper permits and driving regulations are followed Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:  Demonstrated operation experience and equipment knowledgeCDL A License and demonstrated performance operating CDL-A required vehiclesBasic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot simple mechanical failuresPrevious experience in railroad construction or maintenance preferred Physical Requirements Able to perform physical strenuous work Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs Requires occasional use of 30lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50lbs of forceRequires occasional use of 10lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75lbs of forceAble to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe mannerAble to navigate into confined spaces if necessary Environmental Conditions Work is performed outside in varying types of environmental conditions.
