About the role
Responsible for transporting goods and materials across long distances, typically across state lines.
Pay: $1.00 per mile with a 1500-mile guarantee per week for 1 year. Includes monthly safety incentive bonuses, layover, and detention pay.
Responsibilities
- Inspects the truck pre- and post-trip.
- Accurately complete vehicle inspection sheets, fuel consumption logs, daily log sheets, bills of lading, vehicle trip records, and expense reports.
- Ensures all cargo is loaded, checked, and safely secured during transit.
- Assists with or oversees loading and unloading of cargo to ensure secure transit.
- Acquires all proper signatures on shipping/receiving documents.
- Monitors the maintenance and repair of the truck.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally and representing the company positively.
- Responsible for following all Federal and State DOT regulations as well as warehouse safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Requires a commercial driver’s license (Class A CDL) and appropriate endorsements.
- Must be able to obtain a DOT medical card and maintain a complete US DOT driver qualification file.
- 1+ years recent commercial delivery-driving experience.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license, with a clean driving record.
- Capacity to demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and dependability.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail in task completion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of OTR driving experience.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume distribution, manufacturing, technical service (i.e. testing and repair) or forward logistics operation a plus.
- Strong commitment to customer service.
- Possess specialized skills for managing hazardous materials.
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Travel across various states.
- Flexible shifts with the capability to undertake overnight trips 1-2 nights per week.
- Comfortable sitting and driving for extended periods.
- Exposure to various weather conditions.
- The ability to lift, push and/or pull up to 85 lbs., if necessary.
