About the role
As a Delivery Driver, you will deliver and unload various company products, including seafood, beef, poultry, and gourmet products. You will act as the key point of contact with customers, providing the highest levels of customer service while maintaining high safety standards and handling perishable products in accordance with HACCP.
Responsibilities
- Perform all pre-trip responsibilities, including checking route and account numbers for assigned deliveries.
- Conduct necessary vehicle safety inspections.
- Drive and deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route, ensuring the vehicle is properly secured during drop-offs.
- Load and unload products from the vehicle safely using a dolly or other appropriate devices.
- Verify delivery of items with the customer and obtain proper signatures confirming receipt of product.
- Contact management to discuss any issues or concerns that arise during the workday.
- Perform all post-delivery actions, including unloading damaged product, handling customer returns, and completing necessary documents.
- Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations during truck operation and product handling.
- Monitor and ensure temperature-controlled vehicles maintain required temperature limits to guarantee product quality.
- Develop and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by providing professional assistance and demonstrating an interest in customer needs.
- Report any customer complaints to your supervisor.
- Collect money from customers and properly record transactions on company documentation, including invoices. Ensure payments (cash, checks, etc.) are properly secured.
- Ensure safety training is current as per company policy.
- Support the Fleet Manager by ensuring vehicles are maintained according to schedule and records are current and correct.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years of commercial driving experience; transportation of temperature-controlled products is preferred.
- Friendly, outgoing, and courteous customer service demeanor.
- A sense of urgency in meeting critical and time-sensitive deadlines with the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Valid driver’s license – Class B.
- Available to work long shifts and Saturdays.
- Basic English-speaking proficiency.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, and driving.
- Regularly lift up to 80 pounds; may occasionally need to lift over 80 pounds.
- Requires constant mental and visual attention, as well as the ability to see well in limited light scenarios.
- Repetitive reaching, bending, and twisting.
- Repetitive pushing and pulling.
- Must be able to successfully pass a Medical Examiner’s Certification.
