CDL Driver in Training

Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, is now hiring a CDL Driver Trainee or an Entry Level CDL Driver in Anchorage, AK. If you're a hard worker with a great attitude and a clean driving record, this is your chance to get paid while you train and then transition into a full-time CDL driving role.

Pay

• $19.00 per hour during your training phase
• $25.00 per hour as a full-time Local Driver after training
• If you already have your CDL, you will start at $25.00 per hour

Training Timeline

You can complete the full process and start your driving career in as little as 3 weeks! Most individuals can get it within a few months!

• Start as a laborer cleaning and building cans
• Begin driving our delivery truck
• Earn your Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement
• Get assigned a route and train to drive a garbage truck

Training usually consists of driving our delivery truck to deliver/remove residential carts to homes, using Smith System keys while safely driving, and progressing to driving a garbage truck.

Responsibilities

• Operate a garbage truck safely on local routes
• Collect solid waste and recyclables from residential and commercial customers
• Follow route sheets and work independently
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance
• Provide friendly, professional service to customers

Requirements

• A valid Class D license and ability to obtain a CDL permit within 90 days of start date, or
• A valid Class B or Class A CDL with Air Brake endorsement
• A clean driving record
• Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather conditions
• Strong communication and basic reading/writing skills (English required)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 1+ year of general work experience (related experience is a plus)
