About the role
Select Water Solutions’ Hot Oiler CDL Driver safely operates a hot oil unit equipped with a high-pressure pump and burner for heating fluids. The role involves completing all required paperwork, including vehicle inspection reports and Driver’s Daily Logs per DOT regulations, and requires intermediate knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier DOT regulations.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to Company policies and work requirements.
- Drive truck with a total capacity in excess of 3 tons.
- Operate high-pressure pump and burner for heating fluids using controls such as levers, pedals, and buttons.
- Circulate hot oil or water down flowlines, tubing, and casing to melt and remove paraffin build-up.
- Test the integrity of tubing and casing using a high-pressure pump.
- Monitor equipment gauges, indicators, and hand signals to track job activities and conditions.
- Carry and lay out hoses and joints of pipe from the truck to the wellhead or battery.
- Connect and disconnect hoses and joints of pipe using hand tools.
- Maintain trucks in good working condition and complete daily Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Reports (per DOT regulations).
- Notify supervisor of problems immediately and perform minor repairs as necessary.
- Complete basic maintenance, repairs, and adjustments using hand tools.
- Ensure accurate completion and submission of timesheets, tickets, and records of loads hauled/transferred.
- Complete Vehicle Inspection Reports and Driver’s Daily Logs daily and submit to supervisor.
- Conduct all field activities safely and accurately.
- Operate and maintain all company equipment and property; willingness to work overtime.
- Maintain dependable attendance with no unauthorized absences.
- Attend all required safety meetings.
- Participate in job-related training, including Company Safe Operating Procedures and specialized training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience as a CDL A driver.
- CDL A license with Tanker and HazMat endorsements.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Meet all Federal Motor Carrier D.O.T. requirements and safety qualifications.
- Current D.O.T. medical card.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Ability to read and interpret driving routes, safety rules, sales tickets, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to pass D.O.T. pre-employment physical.
- Ability to work night or weekend shifts as necessary.
- Detail-oriented due to safety requirements.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to thrive in a team environment.
- CDL certification from an accredited driving school; one year of similar driving experience (experience may be substituted).
- Experience in the energy industry preferred.

Physical Demands and Exposures
- Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain, extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust.
- Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to individually lift up to 50 lbs.
