Summary
Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws.
Essential Functions
- Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
- Maintains vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy.
- Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
- Supports on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Inspects trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
- Verifies product count while truck is being loaded.
- Complies with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
- Complies with performance measures.
- Duties may vary depending on location.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- CDL A License required.
- Prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar.
- Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices.
- Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred.

Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Occasionally required to sit.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently exposed to ambient temperatures.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
- Noise level is usually loud.
- On the road, may encounter traffic or other hazardous driving conditions.
