About the role

As a Bulk Truck Operator, you will operate Dyno Nobel trucks and specialty equipment to deliver commercial explosives products to customers in a safe, timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of the local SME (Site Mixed Emulsion) plant facility, including preparation and quality control management of chemical solutions, and loading and un-loading of SME trucks.
  • Drive and operate a range of delivery vehicles over public roads to move or deliver explosive products to company or customer sites in a timely and safe manner.
  • Drive duties will frequently extend off public roads to include mine locations/roads, quarries, FSRs, off-road field locations and other such potentially difficult terrain.
  • Drive and operate bulk/SME truck to prepare and deliver quality explosive products to customer sites.
  • Operate rigid-frame, engine-powered machines (skid steer) and associated equipment (trailer).
  • Perform basic mechanical skills and troubleshoot or perform minor repairs or maintenance while in the field.
  • Deliver and off-load product within Dyno Nobel H&S Management System procedures and practices.
  • Calibrate equipment, calculate fuel percentages and check emulsion density.
  • Load and unload all trucks, and maintain magazines, sites and inventories.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain safe working conditions in the shop, while driving and operating equipment and while on blast sites to protect personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and ensure that all crew members and others on the site follow all safety and regulatory procedures and practices to ensure a safe and successful event.

Requirements

  • CDL Class A with Air Brakes, tanker, and hazmat endorsements required.
  • 5+ months of mechanical, commercial driving, explosives or related work experience.
  • Willingness to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to move items weighing up to 60 lbs repetitively over the course of a working day.
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday with early morning start times (anywhere from 8 to 14 hours daily).
