CDL Driver Class B

About the Role

Join a non-profit team providing food service to community members experiencing food insecurity. As a CDL Driver Class B, you will make food deliveries to partner agencies, pick up donations, follow Department of Transportation and Safety regulations, and assist in the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank (CPFB) warehouse as needed.

Schedule

Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays.

Pay

$23 - $24/hour depending on skills and experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate in a "Safety First" manner at all times.
• Maintain professional relationships and a positive attitude with donors, partner agencies, volunteers, and colleagues.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip truck inspections daily; report safety or maintenance concerns immediately.
• Maintain vehicles in good operating condition; report maintenance, accident, or mechanical issues to the Transportation Manager or VP/Director of Operations and Logistics.
• Complete daily fuel trip reports, mileage, and reefer hour reports; submit at the close of the month.
• Keep trucks and trailers clean; follow the monthly cleaning schedule.
• Adhere to CPFB regulations: no smoking, no tobacco use, and no mobile phone use while operating a vehicle (unless using Bluetooth or similar hands-free device).
• Load and unload vehicles as required.
• Follow the daily manifest; complete and submit necessary paperwork.
• Maintain communication with supervisors if detained outside the warehouse; provide estimated time of arrival and details of any returned items.
• Deliver, pick up, and unload items while adhering to vehicle weight restrictions.
• Maintain proper fuel, DEF, and fluid levels for safe vehicle operation.
• Operate vehicles safely and in compliance with Department of Transportation requirements, including load securement.
• Maintain water levels in assigned electric jacks.
• Assist with special events and distributions of CPFB products.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• In cases of declared emergencies, may be required to perform regular or emergent duties as an essential service responder.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 5 years of safe driving experience.
• Combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and skills for the position.
