About the role
The CDL Driver Boom Crane operates Class A or B commercial vehicles in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. This role involves delivering materials to both active construction sites and completed build locations, including city-based deliveries and inter-state travel. Responsibilities include performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections, providing exceptional customer service, organizing and securing loads, adhering to DOT regulations, and operating specialized equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operates Class A or B commercial vehicles in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner.
- Delivers materials to both active construction sites and completed build locations; city-based deliveries and inter-state travel may be required.
- Performs thorough pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with federal regulations.
- Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the truck, ensuring it is well-kept and ready for operation.
- Operates specialized equipment such as articulated booms, knuckle booms, conveyors, or cable-over-sheave systems as required.
- Assists with stocking and organizing inventory in the warehouse and production areas.
- Safely and efficiently operates a truck-mounted forklift to load, unload, and transport materials at job sites.
- Performs inspections of boom crane safety equipment to ensure proper function and compliance with safety standards.
- Safely maneuvers and positions the boom crane to load and unload materials with precision and care.
- Supervises work of associates involved in scope of operation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years CDL experience preferred.
- Experience transporting and handling lumber and building materials required.
- Experience operating boom trucks and truck-mounted cranes preferred.
- Experience with load charts, rigging practices, and weight distribution for safe crane operation preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions and complete forms.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
- Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
- Maintain current operator’s license and meet company driver qualification requirements.
- Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
- Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, dispatchers, and other drivers to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of crane and boom safety regulations and procedures, ensuring safe operation in compliance with industry standards.
- Ability to lift, secure and transport loads safely using a boom crane.

Pay
$29.00 - $34.00 per hour, depending on experience.
